Unique Polish village. Travel. The British newspaper Daily Mail has written about Sułoszowa – a small Polish village located 29 kilometres northwest of Krakow. What makes it special is its layout: more than 6,000 people live along just one road that stretches 9 kilometres through fields and forests. Drone photos of Sułoszowa have gone viral – from above, the village looks like a leaf.
Although the people living in Sułoszowa describe their life as “slow and rather quiet,” the village has recently become more popular, especially on social media. Photos showing the neat fields and buildings in geometric shapes have drawn attention from all over the world.
Foreign media highlight a special village in Poland. Called “little Tuscany,” Sułoszowa attracts more and more tourists
Sułoszowa lies within the Ojców National Park. Visitors come not only to see the unusual field layout but also to enjoy natural attractions – rock formations, valleys, and over 400 caves. In the Daily Mail article, Sułoszowa is even called a “hidden gem of Europe.”
At one end of the village, there is a tall rock with a castle from the 14th century on top, offering a stunning view. Tourists also visit Hercules’ Club – a 30-meter-high limestone rock that grows straight from the ground.
Sułoszowa is part of the famous Trail of the Eagles’ Nests, a tourist route that connects Krakow and Częstochowa.

A village built along one road
The article quotes Katarzyna Bieda from the Sułoszowa Commune Office, who explains that this layout is a result of old communication practices: “In the past, it was easier to live along one road – it was all about access.”
Drone photos clearly show the unique structure of the fields. According to Bieda, this has helped make Sułoszowa famous: “Our fields around the main road look like a leaf – and it’s thanks to these pictures that the village became known worldwide.”
The article also points out that despite the media interest, life in the village is still calm. As Marian Gęgotek, a local tractor driver, says: “Life here is slow and quiet, but I like it this way. I didn’t realize how beautiful it is until I saw those bird’s-eye photos.”

Community life in Sułoszowa
Sułoszowa has many local traditions. People celebrate events like “Strawberry Days” and “Potato Days,” where they enjoy local food and live music. There is also a senior club and a parish group. Sister Jolanta from the local church says the community is very active.
“It’s a beautiful place, and the fields are well cared for because people here really value their farms,” she says. “Walking through the fields helps you relax, and you can often see deer and other wild animals.”
Young people leave, tourists come
But not everyone sees Sułoszowa as perfect. The Daily Mail also spoke to 74-year-old Stanisław, one of the village’s oldest residents. “I wouldn’t call this place idyllic,” he says. “Young people leave for cities or go abroad, and the ones who stay ride their loud motorbikes past my house. Sundays are the worst – that’s when tourists come and look through my window.”
There is no pub in the village, and the only restaurant closes at 5 p.m. Younger people usually go out to Trzyciąż, a nearby town 10 km away.
In the end, the British media say that what makes Sułoszowa so interesting is the mix of beautiful views and simple daily life. In the age of internet and drone photos, even a small village like this can become famous.
So, if you are planning a trip to Krakow or the Ojców National Park, make sure to visit Sułoszowa. It’s not only about beautiful pictures – it’s a place full of peace, nature, and history.
