Berlin to Rome direct train. Travel Austrian State Railways (ÖBB) has announced two new direct train routes from Berlin to Italy. These fast and comfortable trains will take passengers through the Alps to southern Europe. The plan is part of a wider project to bring back and expand international rail travel. At a time when people are more aware of the environment and fuel prices are high, trains are becoming a better choice than flying or driving.
Berlin to Milan from 2027
The first train route will start in June 2027. It will go daily from Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Berlin Südkreuz to Milan. On the way, the train will stop in cities like Munich, Innsbruck, Brenner, Bolzano, and Verona. This connection will make it easy and eco-friendly to travel between two big cities – Berlin and Milan.
Berlin to Rome and Naples from 2028
The second route is even more exciting. Starting in June 2028, you’ll be able to travel from Berlin to Naples, passing through major Italian cities such as Rome. The stops will include: Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Berlin Südkreuz, Bolzano, Verona, Bologna, Florence, Rome, and Naples. Passengers will enjoy a smooth ride from Germany to the south of Italy with no need to change trains.
Modern Trenitalia trains
The new routes will use modern, fast trains from Trenitalia, the Italian railway company. These trains offer a high level of comfort, are very fast, and friendly to the environment.
