Common airport mistake

Common airport mistake. Travel. Are you getting ready for your vacation and already dreaming of the beach? Before you get too excited, remember this: one small mistake at the airport can ruin the start of your trip. Many people do it without even knowing – thinking it’s the easiest way. But the result? Lost time, stress, and sometimes even missed flights.

What is the mistake?

According to experts, most passengers automatically go to the right side when they enter the check-in or security area. Why? Because most of us are right-handed and instinctively move to the right. The problem is that right-side queues are often longer and slower.

TIP: Choose the left side if you can – it’s usually less crowded, just like in supermarkets. This small decision can save you 20–30% of your time. That can mean the difference between a calm boarding and a stressful sprint to the gate – especially during short layovers or early morning flights.

What else can help you at airport security?

To make things quicker and easier, follow these tips:

  • Avoid shoes with metal parts – they can slow you down at the scanner
  • Have your passport and boarding pass ready
  • Pack your hand luggage smartly – put electronics and liquids at the top

Security checks are easier when your bag is well organized. And remember – don’t bring forbidden items. For example, one traveler flying from Germany to Mallorca recently had a knife in his bag. The police were called. Even though he was allowed to continue the journey, he had to pay a fine for breaking security rules.

A police spokesperson told Mallorca Magazine: “Things like this happen once or twice a week. Most people don’t mean harm, but rules are rules.”

One last tip: Place your suitcase on the scanner belt first, then put items like your laptop, liquids, or belt into the tray separately. Travel smart, stay calm – and start your holiday the right way!
