Anyone planning to take a car camera on holiday should exercise caution: using car cameras in Portugal is prohibited. It is worth remembering that cameras are also banned in Switzerland, Austria, and Luxembourg.
As “Travel And Tour World” explains, both the use and possession of a car camera in the vehicle can lead to police action. The authorities believe that such cameras pose a serious violation of privacy as people are illegally recorded in public places. Travellers should refrain from using car cameras, as breaking this rule can result in a fine or even legal action.

According to Portugal’s national data protection authority, the use of them is regulated as follows: “Cameras cannot be installed on public roads, neighbouring properties, or other places that do not belong exclusively to the administrator unless it is absolutely necessary to secure access to the property.”
